New Intelligent Electronic Heating Controls
13 July 2007
ÖkoFEN's new intelligent control system is a complete automated solution for heating and hot water regulation. Fully integrated into the wood pellet boiler and the solar water heating system, the new Pellematic heating controls ensure that both energy sources work together to ensure maximum efficiency. For example, if the boiler is programmed to ignite at 3 o'clock but the sun is shining, the intelligent control system allows the solar water heating to fulfil the heat demand instead, saving fuel and money. If the night-time temperature drops and the hot water remaining in the solar accumulator tank is insufficient for the morning showers or baths, the boiler will automatically step in and fill the gap. Manually overriding the Pellematic controls is also easy. Special vacation settings will allow you to power down the system if you are away on holiday, or leave it on a minimal cycle to prevent frost. With the addition of an optional Siemens communications package the system can even be controlled remotely from your mobile phone: if you are due to leave work unexpectedly early and would like to arrive home to a warm house and hot bath, sending a single text message will confirm the temperature and fire up the boiler if required. Being fully modular, additional Pellematic control units can be added at any time in the future. I/O units are connected via a single data cable, so are easily installed almost anywhere around the house. Separate buildings can even be connected together, sharing a single boiler for maximum efficiency, but each enjoying its own individually programmed heating system.
