Cost and Grants
Purchase and Installation Costs
Because our systems are specially designed by trained technicians and installers to meet your individual requirements, we offer an all-inclusive cost for equipment purchase, system design and installation. This cost differs widely from one installation to another depending on the size of the wood pellet boiler, the type of fuel store used, and the amount of other work required on the existing heating system. Please contact us for an estimate. We can also help you apply for the right grants to dramatically reduce the purchase cost of your sustainable heating system. GrantsDifferent types of grants are available for almost all categories of system. For example, an Ökofen automatic wood pellet heating system can be eligible for a reduction in VAT from the standard 17.5% to just 5%, and Low Carbon Buildings grant (which replaced the previous Clear Skies grant) of £1,500. This effectively means the government is subsidising upwards of £2,000 of the cost of the wood pellet boiler system. Our solar water heating systems are also eligible for similar grants, and businesses can often claim even higher grants that domestic users. Please see the grants page for detailed information. Running CostsSolar water heating systems have almost no running costs at all. A tiny amount of electricity will be used by the pump to circulate the water, but besides this there are no fuel bills because sunlight is free! Wood pellet fuel for Ökofen boilers is now available in bulk in the UK, and (depending on fluctuations in the price of oil) is very competitively priced compared to heating oil, and is cheaper than LPG in most situations. (Please bear in mind that there is a £100 annual service charge for Ökofen automatic wood pellet heating systems to ensure faultless operation for years to come. This is comparable to the price of a service and safety check for a gas or oil boiler which, of course, should also be carried out annually.)
